Newsletter January, 2009
FROM THE PRESIDENT……Gus Swanson
As New Hampshire/New England would have it we welcomed in the New Year with the temperatures in the single digits and a fresh blanket of snow! Some of those that returned north for the holidays were able to confirm, once again, that their reasoning for going south for the winter was/is justified.
A number of us were able to extend our 2008 camping season, all be it forced, into December and experience what “winter camping” in New Hampshire really is! With no power for four days and some folks even longer, a generator and the gas heat in the RV was a blessing in disguise.
As this newsletter reaches you we will be looking forward to or have just finished the “Winter Dinner” hosted by Bob & Louise Parsons at the Red Apple in Concord, NH. As Bob and Louise visited the Cat & Fiddle to finalize arrangements for the winter dinner they were advised that the place would be closing January 4th or 5th. With a little fancy footwork, Louise, along with Bob in his walking cast, was able to reserve the Red Apple for us.
Our 2009 Rally schedule has come together with dates and details. Linda Porazzo still has an opening for April. If anyone is interested in hosting or co-hosting a Chapter Rally, contact Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617.851.3798 or myself. If you know of a place that can accommodate our group for a Chapter Rally, with or without hook-ups (dry camping), let Linda or myself know. It is never too early to start thinking about our 2010 camping season.
As a chapter, the Granite Staters will be helping with Security and Day Gate for the NEAR Rally at Essex Junction, VT, August, 12-15, 2009. We have some members signed up at this time but are always looking for more of the membership to help in this effort. If you have not signed up and are interested in participating as a Volunteer, contact Bill Elkins at email@example.com or 603.435.6064. It’s a good time and is a great way to meet other FMCA members.
Bea and I both wish we could join with those of you that will be attending this years events in Georgia and Florida. We understand that the Southeast Area Rally in Brooksville and International Rally in Perry will be well attended by members of the Granite Staters. But the one we always here is a great time is the “Gators Winter Rally” in Clermont, FL hosted by the Violette’s & Monroe’s which is scheduled for March 17th thru 19th.
Wishing each of you safe travels and we will be looking forward to seeing each of you at Sandwich, NH for our May 2009 Rally.

Wagon Master’s ReportHope everyone is enjoying the winter no matter where they are and are staying healthy. I know the season did not start off well for some of our members but they are all well now or on the mend.
Winter Dinner at the Cat-N-Fiddle was enjoyed by many and thanks go out to Bob & Louise Parsons for hosting this event.
For those of you down South, check the 2009 Schedule (enclosed in this newsletter)for events down there.
Also enclosed in this newsletter is the application form for the first campout up north at Sandwich Fairgrounds in May. It will be nice to see everyone after the winter. Hope winter gets over early and the black flies forget to come.
